The psychology of lasting change

Modern psychology can transform lives, and at Psychology Melbourne, our clinical and counselling psychologists have helped thousands of individuals and couples achieve deep, lasting change.

We work hard to make counselling affordable, understandable, fast and effective. An initial consultation with our most senior Melbourne psychologists will answer all your questions and match you with the most appropriate psychologist from our expert team. Research shows the relationship between a client and a counsellor is vital to the success of therapy. We don't leave that to chance.

Our psychologists include specialists in relationship issues, anxiety and depression, weight management, stress, anger management, child psychology, career and development issues, sexual problems, life coaching and other issues. We use CBT and other strategies that have been proved in research studies to produce the best results. We also offer a range of classes so you can learn new skills without the expense of individual sessions. Our approach saves you time, money and stress.

Medicare rebate

Our counselling sessions and group sessions (or classes) are supported by Medicare when you have a referral, in the form of a Mental Health Care Plan, from your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician. From November 1, 2011 eligible people can receive:

  • 10 individual counselling sessions in a calendar year. Your referring doctor will asses your progress after the first 6 sessions.
  • 10 group therapy sessions in a calendar year.

To get a referral you will need to make an appointment with your GP to complete a Mental Health Care Plan. It is important to tell the doctor's receptionist that you are requesting a referral to a psychologist as the GP needs approximately 30 minutes to discuss the plan with you and fill in the required paperwork.
